A headache caused by jaw-clenching. It happens. Reference pain is the medical equivalent for causality. The way to go about treating reference pain is by finding the trigger point and manipulating it.
How does that translate to running a business? If you aren’t hitting your sales goals, maybe the problem isn’t sales but marketing — an overly generic example in an attempt to illustrate the point.
Look for the root cause. Retrace your process. If there are no processes in place, that right there could be the problem. Find the trigger point that causes suboptimal flow down the line, and manipulate it right there where it originates.
